The Poetry of Arnold Cantor

Federico Castellón
(2006)

A wonder-child, a miracle of art,
His only lessons at Erasmus High,
His memory made all The Masters part
Of every inner landscape he would try.

His parents fled the tyranny of Spain
When he was only seven years of age.
Then, well-known, and Spain liberal again,
He visited the Prado to engage

El Greco, Goya, and Velasquez, too;
He claimed his art got better, more mature.
Precocious and prodigious, his fame grew,
His technique and his vision more secure.

He mastered Symbolism, but felt a stronger call --
For Castellón loved Surrealism most of all.
